Shirley Foote trained at the West of England Academy in the 1950s before working in ceramics for over 20 years. In 1993 she took up painting full-time and today lives and works near Prussia Cove, a few miles east of Penzance.

Foote's paintings are abstract depictions of the rural landscape. Signature, muted colours contrast with recurring, bright shapes in carefully composed and structured canvases. Her paintings are exhibited throughout Cornwall and nationwide.
